VTCT (ITEC) Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetic Therapies:

This is a beauty therapy qualification aimed at learners with no formal background in beauty therapy training, who wish to gain access to additional study of advanced therapy treatments at levels 4 and above.

This qualification consists of units at level 2 and 3 combined to provide the learner with the required underpinning knowledge to afford direct progression onto specific modality training at level 4 +.

  • Maintain health and safety in the salon
  • Skin analysis and facial skincare
  • Consultation and client care
  • Anatomy, physiology and pathology
  • Electrical science

Throughout this qualification, learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant health and safety requirements, anatomy, physiology, and pathology and electrical science, alongside skin analysis and safe practice treatment protocols for facial skin care.

Learners will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required to consult with clients, and provide specific aftercare and home care advice.

This qualification is designed for learners without a traditional beauty therapy background who wish to progress into advanced aesthetic training (such as Level 4 skin and aesthetic treatments). It provides essential knowledge of skin, health and safety, client care, and core practical facial skills.

It is ideal for learners who:

  • Want to enter the aesthetics industry but don’t have a Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification or a Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification

  • Are interested in progressing to Level 4 or higher qualifications (e.g., laser, skin rejuvenation, microneedling, chemical peels).

  • Who wants to move into aesthetics?

Typical units include:

  • Anatomy and physiology for skin and facial treatments

  • Skin health, analysis, and treatment planning

  • Client care, communication, and consultation

  • Health, safety, and hygiene in aesthetics practice

  • Practical facial skincare techniques

Assessment methods include:

  • Practical assessments in a training salon/academy

  • Written or online exams

  • Portfolio of evidence (case studies and treatment logs)
